AB About

A development company, not a design shop.

ZircoMedia designs, builds, hosts, and operates custom software for businesses that need a system rather than a website. We stay on the hook after launch.

02 What that means in practice

    We are on the
    hook after
    launch.

ZircoMedia LLC has been building software since 2006. Plenty of agencies design an interface, hand over a repository, and move on. That model works for marketing sites. It does not work for a platform that calculates somebody's pay, holds a customer's records, or talks to a partner's API on a schedule.

We build the kind of software that has to keep working on a Tuesday morning when a partner changes a response format without telling anyone. So we do the whole job: architecture, build, deployment, hosting, monitoring, and the years afterwards.

That shapes how we design. When you are the one who gets the alert, you write software that fails loudly, logs usefully, retries sensibly, and can be reasoned about at speed by someone who has been awake for twenty minutes.

03 How we approach a build

    / 01

    Model the business first

Before any interface exists we work out how the operation actually runs, including the parts that are informal, undocumented, or contradictory. Getting this wrong is the most expensive mistake available, and it does not become visible for about two years.

    / 02

    Ship in working increments

Real users get real software early. Software that has never been used by the people it was built for is a hypothesis, not a deliverable, and every week it stays untested is a week of assumptions compounding.

    / 03

Treat money and records as different

Anything that determines payment, or that a person may later need to prove, gets an audit trail, immutability once settled, and a documented rule for how it was calculated. These paths are not refactored casually.

    / 04

    Design for the operator

Monitoring, alerting, backups, and a way to answer "what happened to this record" are part of the build, not a phase afterwards that never gets funded.

    / 05

Keep the team small and direct

You talk to the people writing the code. No account management layer sits between the brief and the build, which is the main reason things get built the way they were described.

    04 Who we work with

    Businesses that
    have outgrown
    the tools.

Our work suits organisations at a particular point: the spreadsheet has become load bearing, the off-the-shelf product almost fits but not quite, and the workarounds have quietly turned into policy.

That has meant multi-location retail operations, distributed workforces, businesses reconciling data from partners and suppliers, and consumer products that need a real backend rather than a hosted form.

We are equally direct about what we are not. We are not a branding studio, we do not sell campaigns, and we will tell you when a problem is better solved by configuring something that already exists than by building something new.
